LANDOWNER’S ADVOCATE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY
LANDOWNER’S ADVOCATE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT
The Lake Mountain area is primarily public land, managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and has become increasingly popular for recreational use. Interspersed with the public land are private land holdings, ranches, and residences. Throughout the preceding 15 years, safety issues and destruction of cultural artifacts had developed and escalated due to stray gunfire, wildfires, and destruction of petroglyphs. Over this time, governing agencies did not address Landowner concerns over safety and depletion of resources.
In 2012, Lisa Lowery, Adapt Consulting, became involved as the Landowner’s Advocate. As the Landowner representative, Lisa engaged multiple agencies and worked to sway public opinion to improve a 6-mile traffic corridor. Within 24 months, this formerly stagnant, 15-year public safety issue was planned, funded, & implemented.
